Together, Huh and DeMoss will lead UAB Medicine’s four system service lines: cardiovascular, orthopaedics, primary care and women’s health. They also will support UAB Hospital-focused service lines for cancer, neurosciences and solid organ transplant.

Leading through partnership

The pair will serve in a dyad leadership model that combines physician and administrative expertise to guide strategy, operations and patient care across the health system.

DeMoss will oversee service line operations, strategic growth and performance, while Huh will lead clinical strategy, quality, patient safety and care delivery. In his UAHSF leadership role, Huh also will serve as a voice for clinical department chairs on practice-related matters.

Their partnership builds on years of collaboration within the cancer service line, where DeMoss’ administrative leadership and Huh’s work as senior medical officer helped advance cancer care across UAB Medicine.

“Every patient deserves outstanding care across our tertiary and community sites, and I’m excited to help make that a reality,” Huh said. “Partnering with Jordan in this dyad role brings physician and administrative perspectives together from the start, and I look forward to what we can accomplish for our patients and teams as UAB Medicine grows.”

Experienced leaders

Huh will continue serving as chair of the UAB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a position he has held since 2020. An internationally recognized researcher in HPV-related disease and gynecologic cancer prevention, he has written more than 300 publications and previously served as president of both the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

DeMoss has been part of UAB Medicine for more than 20 years and most recently served as executive vice president of UAB Hospital. He helped launch the cancer service line in 2019, led growth in neurosciences and behavioral health, played a key role in developing the UAB Rehabilitation Pavilion, and directed UAB’s COVID-19 testing program.

“I’ve seen what’s possible when physicians and administrators work side by side to design and expand care around the patient journey, and Dr. Huh is a partner who always puts patients and people first,” DeMoss said. “Bringing that approach to our service lines across the system means that patients can count on a seamless experience and a high standard of care across UAB Medicine.”

As UAB Medicine continues to expand across Alabama and beyond, Huh and DeMoss will help advance a coordinated approach to care that strengthens access, quality and the patient experience across the health system.
