The choir plus student and faculty soloists will perform the European premiere of a new 40-minute multimovement masterwork for choir and orchestra in Italy.

Experience the arts on campus and in the community with this showcase of performances and events featuring students in the College of Arts and Sciences.

This annual showcase concert features soloists and ensembles, choirs, bands and pianists performing music from classical, gospel and jazz to world music, electronic and more.

As summer approaches, registration for many UAB summer camps is now available.

Esther Park and Sun-A Park will perform a program of music by three American composers and close their recital with Gershwin’s famous “Rhapsody in Blue.”

Kirkman, 20, a UAB junior from Florence, Alabama, studying musical theater, was awarded the Chip Hand Prize for Vocal Excellence in the NextGen National contest presented by the American Pops Orchestra.

Four new pieces of music were written for the UAB Wind Symphony to perform; three will have their world premieres at a free preview concert Feb. 25.

Choose from student recitals, guest artists and faculty performances, including Yakov Kasman, DMA, with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, plus Amadeae Duo and the fifth annual PRISM Concert.

Grammy- and Emmy-winner Panion arranged and orchestrated the Blind Boys’ classic hits for this performance, featuring members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and a 300-person combined college choir.

Wallick will perform his diverse program “The Virtuosic Fugue,” culminating with one of Beethoven’s most important piano sonatas, which has never been performed in the UAB Piano Series’ history.

The UAB Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts will present the first major retrospective exhibition in Alabama of legendary artist Thornton Dial Sr. from Sept. 9-Dec. 10. A free panel discussion and opening reception begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9.
