Dean DoughtyTeresa Taber Doughty, Ph.D., dean of the UAB School of Education and Human Sciences, has been named a Dean’s for Impact (DFI) Fellow.

DFI is a nonprofit organization that works with educators, leaders, and policymakers to make instructional quality a priority in the way teachers are prepared.

DFI Fellows attend The Impact Academy, which is a year-long program that invites educator-preparation leaders, like Doughty, from across the nation and provides them with the support and resources to build, grow, and improve their institutions.

At the end of their fellowship, fellows are invited to join the DFI Leadership Collaborative, an alumni network offering continued opportunities to connect and learn.

Doughty was named dean of the School of Education and Human Sciences in 2023. For more than 40 years, she has served as a special educator, researcher, teacher trainer, and administrative leader in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, and Texas.

As Dean of the School of Education and Human Sciences, Doughty advances its strategic goals, with a focus on fostering scholarship, driving program and enrollment growth, enhancing service to both the university and the community, and promoting innovation through strategic planning.

“Congratulations to Dean Doughty,” said Janet Woodruff-Borden, Ph.D., senior vice president of Academic Affairs and provost. “I’m so grateful for her steady, creative, and collaborative leadership in the School of Education and Human Sciences and look forward to seeing the school thrive under her leadership.”
