New class enters UAB’s leadership academy

Nearly two dozen employees will begin their works as the incoming class of UAB's Blaze Leadership Academy Sept. 9.

The goal of the academy is to prepare high-potential faculty and staff for positions of senior leadership and become the stewards of UAB’s future. The academy provides an intensive leadership-development program that combines team projects, case studies, skill-building, expert speakers and panels, peer-to-peer consultation and networking opportunities.

These are the members of the class of 2015-16:

  • Ramzi Abou Arraj, assistant professor in the School of Dentistry;
  • David Allen, senior director of development in the Collat School of Business;
  • Scott Austin, business officer in the Graduate School;
  • Douglas Ayers, associate professor in the Collat School of Business;
  • Kellie Carter, director of the Professional Development Program in the Graduate School;
  • Alison Chapman, professor of English and department chair in the College of Arts and Sciences;
  • Emily Feinstein, director of Student Advocacy, Rights and Conduct and Title IX Deputy Coordinator;
  • Ashley Floyd, director of fellowships and assistant director of the Honors College;
  • Kevin Jaquess, real estate officer in Business and Auxiliary Services;
  • Lynne Jarreau, project manager II in the School of Dentistry;
  • Daniel Jones, lead for Banner applications in IT;
  • Deborah Littleton, program director in the College of Arts and Sciences;
  • Joe March, professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences;
  • Lisa McCormick, associate professor in the School of Public Health;
  • Brian Pillay, associate professor in the School of Engineering;
  • Edward Reynolds, student recruitment manager in the Collat School of Business;
  • David Rhodes, program director in the School of Public Health;
  • Kevin Storr, director of communications in the School of Health Professions;
  • Jeff Szychowski, associate professor in the School of Public Health;
  • Stacey Torman, assistant director for athletic performance in the Athletic Department; and
  • Tino Unlap, program director, biotechnology in the School of Health Professions.
