A new tool called Panorama will be available inside Canvas starting Monday, Feb. 9, for UAB faculty. David Pollock, Ph.D., director of Learning Technologies for the Center for Teaching and Learning, will introduce the tool in a Zoom webinar at 11 a.m. Feb. 9. Four workshops this spring will discuss academic integrity concerns, share the experiences of teaching faculty, reimagine learning with AI, and offer help redesigning assignments or entire courses. Presenter Meagan Malone, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of English, explains how her classroom approach has changed since the first days of generative AI in this article.
Amy Chatham, Ph.D., has been named executive director of the expanded center. “These offices are here to help faculty and are laser-focused on providing the tools, training and service that enable UAB’s teachers to be the most effective,” said Scott Phillips, Ph.D., vice provost for Innovative Teaching and Academic Engagement.

In this newly created role, Scott Phillips, Ph.D., will continue to direct the Center for Teaching and Learning and also will oversee seven units in the Office of the Provost that work to deliver innovative teaching to UAB students.
The multimillion-dollar commitment has been invested in collections, resources, personnel, physical renovations and other improvements during the past several years.
