Are you still suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)? Have you tried prescribed medication but are still experiencing anxiety symptoms? If so, please consider participating in our research study of an investigational drug for GAD. Learn more about a clinical trial examining a potential new treatment for depression in adult patients. Managing symptoms of depression can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. If you experience symptoms such as sadness, diminished interest or pleasure in things that you once enjoyed, appetite changes, sleep changes, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, or thoughts of suicide or harming yourself, you may qualify for a clinical trial examining a new treatment option for depression. The Vitalize Clinical Study is evaluating a new type of investigational treatment for patients with depression that works differently than traditional antidepressants. The study will include a total of 9 visits with the study doctor, over a period of 14 weeks. If you are qualified to participate, you will receive either the study drug, or placebo, as an oral tablet administered one time per week in the study clinic. As a study participant, you will also receive once-weekly evaluations of your depression and other symptoms, physical examinations and tests of your blood, urine, heart, and brain activity at no cost. This study may be an option for you if you: are a healthy adult aged 18-64 with no other major illnesses have a diagnosis of depression are currently experiencing a major depressive episode that has lasted at least 3 weeks but no longer than 18 months are interested in trying a new treatment option, administered as an oral tablet once per week are interested in receiving thorough evaluations of your depression and health monitoring during your participation in the study are interested in contributing to the growing body of research about depression and new treatment options. Continuing to experience the effects of depression? You could participate in a research study for adults who have depression. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety, efficacy, and maintenance of effect of an investigational medication in people with depression. You may be eligible to participate if you: are 18-74 years of age have been diagnosed with depression have taken antidepressants in the past that did not work well for you are currently taking an antidepressant medication but still have symptoms of depression If you are interested, additional eligibility criteria will be assessed by the study doctor or staff. The study consists of Part 1 and Part 2. In Part 1, you will received the investigational medication or placebo (contains no active medication) for 6 weeks. If you complete Part 1, you will have the option to participate in Part 2. In Part 2, you could receive the investigational medication for up to 16 weeks or more. Qualified patients may receive study-required medical care and investigational study medication at no cost. The study will not pay for other medical care or current medication(s) needed to support your daily health care routine. Are you at least 18 years old and have been previously diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and would like or are in need of a comprehensive psychological evaluation? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study where you will receive a free comprehensive psychological evaluation involving a diagnostic interview, cognitive testing such as achievement and intelligence testing, and a personality assessment. Participation involves approximately 7 to 8 hours of a full psychological evaluation to assess you for ADHD and other potential mental health concerns. The assessment may occur over either one or multiple days, depending on your preference. In exchange for participation, all participants will receive a full comprehensive psychological report detailing the findings of your evaluation. This report will be a standard medical report that can be utilized to seek mental health treatment, academic or work accommodations, or meet other needs. Participants between the ages of 35 and 65 are needed for this study. The purpose of the study is to fill in what we don’t know about how schizophrenia affects people as they get older. We want to find out what we can do to help older individuals with schizophrenia live better lives. The study includes 4 visits over the course of two weeks. The screening visit will take 2 hours. The first study visit will take 3 hours. The second study visit will take 2 hours. The third study visit will take 9 hours. This study will include: a clinical interview, cognitive batteries, questionnaires and assessments related to your daily and psychiatric functioning, two 90 minute MRI scans of your brain, a fasting blood draw, and a urine drug screen and pregnancy test (for females). Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, or feel that your quality of life has suffered due to your HIV diagnosis? Researchers in the Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham are conducting a clinical trial of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for the treatment of mental health concerns among men who have sex with men and are living with HIV. Volunteers will attend 8 weekly roughly 1 hour sessions of psychotherapy delivered via HIPAA-compliant Zoom by a doctoral student in Medical/Clinical Psychology at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Participants will receive $10 upon completion of initial intake session and an additional $15 upon completion of final therapy session. Study includes up to 12 in-person sessions of weekly counseling for free Remuneration in the form of up to three distributions of $25 for completing three surveys over the course of the study ($75 total) To be included: You must be an adult (18 or older) Identify as LGBTQ+ Our study is a counseling intervention designed to address mental health concerns related to identity-related minority stress. However, there are a few conditions that we do not think would be a good fit. Major Depressive Disorder is a mental health condition characterized by periods of low mood, low self-esteem, and loss of interest or pleasure in normally enjoyable activities. The purpose of this clinical research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug for Major Depressive Disorder, also known as Major Depression. Study participation may include several clinic visits over a period of up to 5 months with an opportunity to conduct some visits either virtually or in-clinic. University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking cigarette smokers who would like to quit smoking for participation in a scientific research study. The research study involves free counseling and treatment provided in a comfortable, supportive setting. The study may involve ingestion of psilocybin, a psychoactive substance found in psychedelic mushrooms that have been used as a sacrament in various cultures. Some research studies have suggested that psychedelics, when administered under interpersonally supportive and well-prepared conditions, may be effective in helping people overcome addictions. Questionnaires, interviews, and biological measures of smoking will be used to assess the treatment's effects on mood and smoking. Participants will be compensated $50 per session. There is an ongoing psychedelic clinical research study evaluating the safety and efficacy of an intranasal study drug for patients with treatment resistant depression. To qualify patients need to be 18-75 years of age, failed to respond to an adequate dose & duration of at least 2 medicines for depression. If currently taking antidepressants, willing and able to discontinue. If eligible, study participants will be expected to abstain from illicit drugs for the duration of the trial & attend all study visits & follow instructions from the study doctor. If you’re being treated for MDD and your current antidepressant medication(s) is not working, the SAVITRI Study might interest you. The SAVITRI Study is researching a potential MDD therapy to improve symptoms of depression, and you may be able to participate. This research study is now enrolling adults diagnosed with MDD. Those who qualify will receive the investigational medication (or placebo), study-specific medical exams, and study-specific laboratory tests at no cost. Participants in the SAVITRI Study must: be 18 to 65 years of age; have a clinical diagnosis of MDD; be currently on antidepressant medication(s); have had inadequate response to up to 5 oral antidepressant medications; and fulfill other eligibility criteria.
