Looking for healthy participants ages 15-18 to participate in a study looking at depression, obesity, and early life stress. Must be in good general health with no history of mental illness, physical conditions such as autoimmune, cardiovascular or endocrine disease, and not be taking any medications that affect weight. There is a clinical study at UAB enrolling people with depression. If you have a history of depression or are currently depressed, please call us at 934-8336 for screening and enrolling. You will be compensated up to $120 if you complete the study.
Have you experienced... Feeling hopeless? Feeling sad or down? Feeling guilty? Increase or decrease in appetite? Loss of interest in activities? Inability to concentrate? Forgetfulness? Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much? Wishing you were dead? If you answered yes to some or all of these questions and you are: ages 19-65 and in good physical health, you may be eligible to participate in a research study for treatment of depression, involving a one time dose of ketamine. The UAB Office of Psychiatric Research is conducting a study examining the relationship between early life stress, depression, and glucose metabolism. In order to qualify, you must have no history of anxiety, psychosis, mania, substance dependence within a year. You must also have no history of endocrine, cardiovascular, or inflammatory diseases.
