Fundamentals of Phlebotomy and Body Fluid Collection
An in depth course in phlebotomy covering aspects of safety procedures, hygiene, capillary puncture, venipuncture, arterial access and maintenance, intravenous access and maintenance, drug administration via IV, intramuscular and subcutaneous methods and non-blood collections of bodily fluids.

Survival Spanish for Health Professionals
Healthcare professionals will be introduced to basic vocabulary, useful questions and expressions in Spanish needed to communicate in practical healthcare situations. Students will participate in speaking exercises, dialogue, and role-play activities (field-specific scenarios). Conducted in English.

Competencies in Genetics for Health Professionals    
This course educates health professional students and students interested in the health professions about core competencies in genetics to prepare them to integrate genetics knowledge, skills, and attitudes into routine healthcare, thereby providing effective and comprehensive services to individuals and families.  
Recommended Prerequisites: Bio 123 and MA 105 or equivalent.

CDS 425

First Aid & Healthcare Provider CPR and AED Course
The goal of this course is to provide the student with the knowledge and skills needed to perform basic first aid and CPR procedures for adult, child and infant victims according to the American Heart Association (AHA) standards. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive an AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course certification card, which is valid for two years.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support
The goal of this course is to provide the student with the knowledge and skills needed to perform Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) according to the American Heart Association (AHA) standards. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive an AHA ACLS certification card, which is valid for two years.  
Prerequisites: Successful Completion of CDS 425/525 or current American Hearth Association Basic Life Support Certification
