Meet Us at the 2019 Gulf Coast HIMSS Conference

If you are attending the 2019 Gulf Coast HIMSS Conference on November 13-15 in Biloxi, MS, we want to meet you. Dr. Sue Feldman, the program director for the M.S. in Health Informatics and Graduate Certificate in Clinical Informatics programs, will be the keynote speaker for Thursday and will be sharing about "Using a Community-Based Participatory Approach to Opiod Treatment." Dr. Feldman will be available to meet with you during the event or schedule another time to talk if you are interested in learning more about the graduate programs in health informatics offered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Our Health Informatics Programs

M.S. in Health Informatics

You can earn a Master's Degree in Health Informatics in 24 months through online coursework. During the program, you will visit our campus in Birmingham two times (Fall and Spring) to get in-person training. Our program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Graduate Certificate in Clinical Informatics

The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Informatics is a shorter program than the master's degree, but has the same high level of coursework. You can complete the program in two semesters, taking all of your courses online with no on-campus requirements. Upon completing the certificate, the certificate courses can be applied to the M.S. in Health Informatics program.

AMIA 10x10 Course

The AMIA 10x10 course was developed through a partnership with the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and is part of their 10x10 continuing education program. This course can be applied to the M.S. in Health Informatics or Graduate Certificate in Clinical Informatics programs.

Clinical Informatics Continuing Education Courses

This series of five courses cover trending topics in the clinical informatics field. The courses are designed particularily for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals and address the role of health informatics and health IT in various aspects of patient care.
