The annual UAB PT Job Fair was held on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at the UAB National Alumni Society House. The Job Fair took place from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., followed promptly by the UAB PT Pledge Ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
Support Beyond
Our generous alumni ask us all the time: "How can we help?" We always point them toward the many opportunities for our students that extend beyond the classroom like clinics, conferences, development, advocacy, and more.
We tell them about Kelsey Smith, UAB PT Class of 2019, who attended APTA's NEXT and called it "an experience that will forever shape who I am and who I want to be."
We mention Karen Claunch, UAB PT Class of 2019, who attended APTA's CSM and said "not only did these conferences reinforce my education, but they reinforced my confidence in my program."
But to have these life altering experiences requires money, which, as you well remember from your days as a student, is not always simple.
UAB PT Student Professional Development Fund
The UAB PT Student Professional Development Fund supports UAB PT students with expenses related to these experiences - costs like registration, travel, lodging, and meals.
Your support of this fund removes the financial burdens and obstacles that prevent some of our students from important educational experiences and opens opportunities for our students to engage in valuable activities that will further their career and the PT profession.
How You Can Help
Rachel Burch, Class of 2019, wrote a blog post for the APTA about her conference travels where she experienced personal growth "that you can't get from a textbook."
We want all UAB PT students to gain that exposure and with your help - many of them will. Whether from you or your organization, all gifts to the UAB PT Student Development Fund directly support our students. A few examples include:
- $75 will cover a student's meals.
- $150 will cover a student's National Student Conclave registration.
- $300 will cover a student's Combined Sections Meeting fees.
Your generosity will ensure that tomorrow's physical therapists gain the most knowledge from the most sources today. And in turn, they will be best prepared to practice with the skill and compassion that you expect from a UAB PT alumni.
