UAB Tone Your Bones
  • As you turn from the sink to the dishwasher, turn with your feet to avoid twisting your trunk (torso). Your nose and toes should always point in the same direction. If they do not, you are twisting your spine.
  • To place a dish in the dishwasher, keep your head and breastbone up, maintain the arch in your lower back by tightening your belly muscles, and bend your hips, knees, and ankles to lean forward and down.
  • Tighten your bottom and thigh muscles to return to an erect posture.
