Dr. Wickliffe joins UAB from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where for the past 11 years, he has served first as an Assistant Professor, then Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences.

“My interests and dedication to assessing, understanding, and ultimately preventing adverse human health effects associated with exposure to environmental hazards guides my research, education, and service efforts, and I look forward to continuing these efforts at UAB,” said Dr. Jeffrey Wickliffe. “It is with great enthusiasm that I join the UAB School of Public Health as Chair of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences.”

Prior to his time at Tulane, Dr. Wickliffe was a NIEHS Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch (Training in Toxicology and Human Biomonitoring). He holds a PhD from Texas Tech University (Molecular and Population Genetics and Mutagenesis in Biology), an MS from Texas A&M University (Environmental Toxicology in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences) and a BS from Texas A&M University (Wildlife Ecology in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences).

“Dr. Jeffrey Wickliffe’s overall commitment to both the research and education of identifying modifiable environmental factors and developing evidence-based policies to improve the public’s health aligns completely with our priorities as both a school and as Public Health experts. I am confident that his experience and passion will make an excellent addition to not only the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, but to the School of Public Health and to the university as a whole,” said Dr. Paul Erwin, Dean of the UAB School of Public Health.

Please provide Dr. Wickliffe with a warm welcome as he joins the UAB School of Public Health team.
