Spring commencement ceremonies, doctoral hooding at UAB on April 29
At least 2,015 students will graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and approximately 1,250 are expected to walk in the spring 2017 commencement ceremonies happening 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Bartow Arena.

The UAB Social Justice Advocacy Council (SJAC) will host Stay Woke Alabama: A Social Justice Conference for graduate, undergraduate and professional students from campuses across Alabama on Saturday, April 8. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m in Heritage Hall, located at 1400 University Blvd.

Hammock park opens soon
A new hammock park, located near Rast Hall, will open just in time for students returning from Spring Break. The park, opening March 29, is a solution to the ever-growing use of portable hammocks around campus, which can damage young trees.
