If you would like to connect with a diverse group of environmentally-minded students and learn more about sustainability, apply to become a Student Sustainability Ambassador!
The goal of the ambassador program is to bring students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives together to create a dynamic team working to deepen the culture of sustainability at UAB. Student applicants must have an interest in practicing and promoting sustainable living and engagement, and be willing to serve as the sustainability resource person for their sub-community at UAB. Sustainability Ambassadors will participate in educational workshops about environmental, social, and economic sustainability and will receive guidance and support in their efforts to engage the greater university community.

Available Positions
- Applicants will be selected for a full academic year
- Ambassadors will comprise of students from the following units: College of Arts and Sciences, Collat School of Business, Honors College, School of Education, School of Engineering, School of Health Professions, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, Resident Halls, UAB Athletics, UAB Graduate Schools, and all residence halls.
- Be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UAB, live in the residence hall, or participate as a member of an athletic team

Training
Students will attend monthly training sessions beginning in October. Each session will focus on a different theme that will strengthen participants’ understanding of sustainability and how they can participate in UAB’s sustainability initiatives. The trainings will cover a wide range of topics, including workshops with community experts specializing on themes presented. Monthly meetings will take place from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. CST.

Duties
All program participants will:
- Serve as an Ambassador for one Academic year, October to April
- Attend at least 6 out of 7 meetings
- Attend and participate in select Office of Sustainability events
- Show initiative and willingness to improve the culture of sustainability at UAB
