Report Prohibited Conduct as soon as possible to maximize the University’s ability to respond promptly and effectively. Report an Incident

Students,

Welcome to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As you begin your UAB experience, we want you to know that you are joining a campus community committed to safety, respect, and care for one another.

Starting college brings new opportunities, responsibilities, and connections. One way UAB supports students during this transition is through Sexual Assault Prevention Training, an online educational program for incoming undergraduate students. This training provides information about consent, healthy and respectful relationships, bystander intervention, and resources available to support you and others on campus.

The training is designed to help establish shared expectations within our community and to equip students with knowledge that supports both personal decision-making and peer support. Understanding how to recognize concerning behaviors, intervene safely, and access resources contributes to a campus environment where everyone can learn, live, and engage free from sexual misconduct.

You will receive an email to your UAB email account with instructions for accessing the training through Canvas. The course is self‑paced and can be completed in multiple sessions. We encourage you to complete the training early so you can focus on your academic and campus experience as the semester progresses.

Providing sexual assault prevention education is one way UAB fulfills its institutional responsibilities under federal law. More importantly, it reflects our commitment to fostering a campus culture grounded in respect, accountability, and support.

If you have questions about the training or need assistance accessing the course, additional information and support are available on this website.

We are glad you are here and wish you a successful start to your time at UAB.

Sincerely,

Andrea McDew, Ed.D
