Caroline Harada, M.D., Associate Professor in the UAB Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care, has been appointed as the new Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives, Medical Education. Dr. Harada brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles, including serving as Assistant Dean for Community-Engaged Scholarship, spearheading the Learning Communities program, and providing leadership in the Office of Service Learning. In her new position, Dr. Harada will leverage her expertise to lead strategic projects aimed at enhancing the quality of medical education at the Heersink School of Medicine.

Stevens Receives ADCES Award

Donna Stevens, DNP, Lead Advanced Practice Provider of Glycemic Management Service, received the 2023 Advancing the Vision award from the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists for her team’s efforts to improve diabetes-related quality metrics in the Glycemic Control Clinic.

In Memoriam: C.W. "Bill" Scott, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Bill Scott, Professor Emeritus in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, passed away on Friday, April 21. With dual appointments in Medicine and Pathology, Scott served UAB for 44 years and is remembered as a beloved educator and academic leader.
