Blazer Spirit Council

The Blazer Spirit Council (BSC) is a student programming board that works to implement spirit & tradition activities for the student body. Programs include activities for Homecoming, Creed Week, and Grad Week as well as activities to support athletic engagement.

Mission:

The Blazer Spirit Council seeks to increase school spirit within the UAB community by providing inclusive programming that upholds the history, traditions, and values of UAB.

Goals

  1. Increase Blazer pride through intentional, student-led programming and initiatives.
  2. Engage UAB students, faculty, staff, and community members in creating new and celebrating existing UAB traditions.
  3. Place students at the center of the institutional conversation surrounding campus pride and in a position to sustain and create UAB traditions.
  4. Develop a sustainable, inclusive framework for planning and promoting spirit and tradition events and initiatives.

Values

Community - We believe it is important to participate in experiences that build connections to UAB and foster lasting relationships with our peers, faculty, staff, alumni, partners and sponsors, and the Birmingham community..

Growth - To support the mission of BSC, we believe it is critical to develop into leaders who practice and promote healthy behaviors and wellness, respect ourselves and others, and engage in activities to enhance our leadership skills.

Innovation – While we embrace the special significance of every UAB tradition and hope to keep each one alive, we believe it is also important to create new traditions and enhance current ones to meet the needs of all UAB community members.

Pride – We believe it is crucial to provide experiences that create excitement and spirit throughout campus all year long. We also seek to provide opportunities to transform students into proud alumni who exude the tenets of the Blazer Way and return every year filled with a deeper connection to UAB.
