Assessment Tools

Admissions Testing

Most professional schools require that applicants take a standardized admissions test as part of the application. It is a good idea to become familiar with the admissions test content and process early in your college career. Visit the web site of your anticipated test to access test content, practice and study materials, information about registration for the exams, and procedures for administration of the exam.
Other graduate programs may require additional admissions tests.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and make a difference, and can also be a suggested or even required activity by some student groups. You can learn about volunteer opportunities in the Students section of this website and on the UAB Service Learning website.

Recommended Reading

To enhance your preparation for the MCAT and other admissions tests for graduate programs it is highly recommended that you have a regular schedule of reading outside the classroom during your entire undergraduate education. You may choose from a wide range of material including prose, non-fiction, philosophy, and classic literature. We have compiled lists of suggested reading both in printed form and web based formats to get you started.
