Student using lasers in the lab.The university and UAB's College of Arts and Sciences offer many scholarships to incoming and current students. You can explore these options and apply through the UAB BSMART scholarship system.

In addition to scholarships open to any CAS student, there are CAS scholarships that are open specifically to science and math majors. These include:

  • The George F. Brockman IV Endowed Scholarship - The Brockman Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Mathematics, or Physics who have demonstrated solid academic promise. The Brockman Scholarship is an annual award.
  • The God at the Speed of Light Endowed Scholarship - The God at the Speed of Light Endowed Scholarship was created by Dr. T. Lee Baumann. There are four scholarships available, for freshman through senior students. Applicants must currently be enrolled in the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Mathematics, or Physics. The God at the Speed of Light Endowed Scholarship is a renewable award.
  • The Dr. Larry Krannich Endowed Student Research Scholarship - The Krannich Research Scholarship is designed to provide opportunities for young scientists to gain valuable experience in research laboratories. It was established by Dr. Larry Krannich, the former Chair of the UAB Department of Chemistry, and is designed to provide financial support to Chemistry majors for a summer research experience.
