Mission Statement
The UAB Transgenic & Genetically Engineered Models (TGEM) iPSC Core is a centralized resource for the efficient generation of iPSCs and genetically modified iPSC lines for UAB investigators. iPSCs are produced by trained professionals using established protocols and rigorous quality-control standards. For investigators, this approach provides access to highly specialized iPSC generation and genome editing services at a reasonable cost. The UAB TGEM iPSC Core is supported by the Institutional Research Core Program.

History
The UAB TGEM iPSC Core was established in September 2026. The Core team brings extensive experience in iPSC generation, genome engineering, and research applications. These iPSC can be utilized by UAB researchers and clinicians to develop advanced human cellular models for studying disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic approaches. The TGEM iPSC Core also connects investigators with UAB centers and researchers who have expertise in differentiating iPSCs into specialized cell types and organoids for downstream research applications.
