Alternative Master of Arts in Education in Early Childhood Education

The Alternative Master of Arts in Education in Early Childhood Education is designed for individuals who hold an undergraduate degree in a field other than education and wish to earn Class A teacher certification for ages birth-third grade.

Coursework takes a minimum of 55 semester hours to complete and includes courses with a focus on play, diverse learners, teaching math, science and literacy, and social-emotional development, as well as fieldwork and an internship (student teaching). Admission Requirements

• ABI/FBI background clearance through the Alabama State Department of Education
• Apply to UAB Graduate School
• Passing Score on PRAXIS-Early Childhood Content Knowledge
• Evaluation of undergraduate and graduate-level coursework for general studies requirements
