The Educational Leadership Program prepares professionals for administrative and leadership positions in educational institutions ranging from K-12 schools and districts to community colleges and universities.

The M.A. Ed, Post-Master’s Certificate, Ed.S., and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership are designed for K-12 educators who want to advance in their field and equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively support high-quality learning and transform schools. Our program has long partnered with the school districts of Greater Birmingham, and we draw upon a unique blend of urban, suburban, and rural schools in the preparation of our graduate students. In addition to attaining the positions of superintendent, principal, assistant principal, and curriculum/instructional leaders, many of our graduates have received local, state, and national recognition for their scholarly contributions to the field of school leadership.

The M.S. and Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Administration are designed for individuals looking to enter or advance their careers at post-secondary institutions. Students will learn organizational theory and social and policy issues that critically impact student success. Coursework will focus on culture, diversity, and the history of higher education as well as the unique challenges and variations within higher education, including differences in schools by regions of the United States, urban/rural institutions, tribal colleges and universities (TCUs), historically Black colleges and universities (HBCs), and other iterations of higher education institutions.
