The Education Specialist in TESOL Certification Track is designed for individuals who hold the ALSDE's Class A certification in ESOL and wish to earn an Ed.S. degree and Class AA certification. This program provides advanced training in the teaching and learning of English as a Second Language (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL).   

Coursework takes a minimum on 30 semester hours to complete and includes courses in culturally and linguistically responsive instruction, instruction and assessment: reading/writing and listening/speaking, and teacher leadership as well as advisor-approved elective courses and research. A program checklist can be found on the right and course specific information may be found in the UAB Graduate Catalog.
