Election to the AIMBE College of Fellows is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to a medical and biological engineer. The College of Fellows is comprised of the top two percent of medical and biological engineers.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering held its First Annual Faculty/Staff vs. Students Basketball Game on February 28 at the Campus Recreational Center.
At the end of Kimbel and Bane’s inspiring story and interview on “TODAY” anchor Craig Melvin asked the question that has everyone at the University of Alabama at Birmingham buzzing.
“Off to college next year? Where are you going?” Melvin asked.
“UAB,” Kimbel said. “I’m going to be in Birmingham. I’m very excited.”
The UAB Department of Biomedical Engineering ranked fifth in the nation in the amount of funding it received from the National Institutes of Health in 2018, marking the third-straight year the department has ranked in the NIH’s top five.
The UAB Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) recently was awarded a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Institutional Research Training Grant (T32) to support predoctoral students in UAB’s BME and Biomedical Sciences graduate programs.
