  • Society for Biomaterials: The Society For Biomaterials is a multidisciplinary society of academic, healthcare, governmental and business professionals dedicated to promoting advancements in all aspects of biomaterial science, education and professional standards to enhance human health and quality of life.
  • Engineers Without Borders: Engineers Without Borders USA builds a better world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs and equip leaders to solve the world’s most pressing challenges.

The goal of the BMES student chapter is to introduce students to the profession of Biomedical Engineering.

We provide an environment for social interaction and exchange of ideas between students and faculty. Activities include bi-weekly meetings, social events, participation in the annual and regional conferences, local lab tours, guest speakers, and volunteer opportunities around the greater Birmingham area.

BMEGS Officers 2016-2017

The Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student (BMEGS) Organization was created and is run by BME graduate students. BMEGS became an officially recognized UAB student organization in the fall of 2009. BMEGS facilitates communication between BME graduate students, faculty members, and administrators, allowing students to take an active role in steering the direction and growth of the BME Graduate Program at UAB.
