The Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student (BMEGS) Organization was created and is run by BME graduate students. BMEGS became an officially recognized UAB student organization in the fall of 2009. BMEGS facilitates communication between BME graduate students, faculty members, and administrators, allowing students to take an active role in steering the direction and growth of the BME Graduate Program at UAB.

BMEGS members are involved in many activities including graduate program recruitment, new student orientation, and serving as representatives when the Department of Biomedical Engineering hosts guests, including seminar speakers, faculty recruits, and lab tours.

BMEGS has a peer mentoring program, which matches new students with peer mentors who help guide them through their first year in the graduate program. Additionally, BMEGS hosts social events, shares opportunities for professional development and networking, and more.

BMEGS holds monthly meetings; all BME graduate students are welcome to join BMEGS. Please contact a BMEGS Officer below if you would like to join or have any questions.
