Michael Heim, an undergraduate student in the laboratory of M.K. Sewell-Loftin, Ph.D., was named UAB’s School of Engineering Undergraduate Student of the Year for the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Engineering Council of Birmingham’s (ECOB) 65th Annual Awards Banquet.
“I am honored to be recognized for this award, and am very thankful for my time, education, and mentorship at UAB by the wonderful biomedical engineering faculty, especially my research mentor Dr. Sewell-Loftin,” said Heim.
Yuhua Wei, a graduate student in the laboratory of Jianyi “Jay” Zhang, M.D., Ph.D., was named UAB’s School of Engineering Graduate Student of the Year for the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
