Welcome to the UAB Blazer Spirit Competition!

General Rules & Regulations

Rule 1
All UAB students are eligible to form a team to participate if they are in good standing with the university.

Rule 2
All student teams participating under the name of their student organization must have been approved through the organization registration on Engage. Groups of friends/classmates are eligible to participate.

Rule 3
Students are only allowed to be registered with one team.

Rule 4
Any member of any group displaying conduct that is detrimental to the efforts of another group or Homecoming in general will be subject to disqualification of their entire group from all Homecoming competitions. Rule 5
Each group participating in the competition will be required to submit a team captain with a current phone number & email. Rule 6
Only one Team Captain per organization will serve as the point of contact for their team. All communication and updates will be sent to the Team Captains only for each organization. This person should have their contact information filled out on the online form by October 6, 2023.

Rule 7
Each event should incorporate the homecoming theme, Y2Blaze, along with general UAB Homecoming spirit.

Rule 8
The UAB non-academic student code of conduct applies to all Homecoming events. Persons found to be violating the code of conduct will be referred to the Office of Community Standards & Student Accountability for appropriate action.

Rule 9
No alcoholic beverages are allowed at/in/during ANY event. Persons found in violation will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct for appropriate action.

Rule 10
Each competition must be completed in good taste (no profanity, vulgarity, etc.). Violators are subject to disqualification from the activity in question along with other Homecoming events.

Rule 11
All guidelines and rules for each individual competition event must be followed as outlined.

Rule 12
The Blazer Spirit Council organizes and monitors each event. This committee has full authority to disqualify a group based on misconduct, bad taste, etc. Due to this provision, no member of the Blazer Spirit Council executive board may participate on a homecoming team.

 

Virtual/Online Etiquette

Rule 1
All posts and comments made on social media (Zoom, Instagram, etc.) must be appropriate and respectful (no vulgarity, profanity, hateful speech, etc.). Violators are subject to disqualification from the event and other Homecoming events.

Rule 2
Any member of any group that displays conduct on social media (Zoom, Instagram, etc.) that is disruptive or detrimental to another group or Homecoming in general will be subject to disqualification of their entire team from all competitions.
