The annual Employee Wellness lung health event, in celebration of the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout, went virtual for the second year in a row! The Great American Smokeout is an annual event to help Americans take the important step toward living a healthier life and reducing cancer risks, by quitting smoking. We want you to “Love your Lungs” and learn about the risks of cigarette, vape and tobacco use and take advantage of resources to help support you in a healthier lifestyle.

Here are few ways to get started in your tobacco-free journey:

  1. Register for Tobacco Cessation Counseling through the UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center.
  2. Use the Alabama Tobacco Quitline for free telephone and online tobacco cessation resources, such as coaching, personalized support and even free nicotine replacement therapy for eligible participants.
  3. Learn more about Smoking Cessation and how you or a loved one may benefit from quitting.
