The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine Library is located on the ninth floor of the Jefferson Tower building in the heart of the UAB Medical Center. The library houses more than 3,000 monographs, 1,700 bound journal volumes, over 100 DVDs and CDs, and a large collection of material related to departmental history. The library currently receives more that 70 journal and newsletter subscriptions and has another large collection of primary and secondary materials related to the history of anesthesia, pain management, and critical care. The library is open to non-departmental personnel Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
The library's journal listings are included in SERLINE, the U.S. National Library of Medicine's database for medical library journal holdings. SERLINE forms the basis for DOCLINE, a national electronic interlibrary loan system in which the library also participates. The library is a member of the Alabama Health Libraries Association and the U.S. National Network of Libraries of Medicine. The library's profile appears in annual editions of the American Library Directory, Directory of Special Libraries and Information Centers and Directory of History of Medicine Collections [issued by the National Library of Medicine].
