Biography
Kala Hurst, DO, MS, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Georgia Campus. She then completed her internship and dermatology residency at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. A Tuscaloosa native, she returned to Alabama, joining UAB as faculty in 2026.
Dr. Hurst has a passion for delivering compassionate and competent patient care. When she is not working, she enjoys weightlifting, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family.
