Biography
Ritesh was born and raised in a city named UNNAO in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. He received his Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology at the Integral University, Lucknow, India in 2012. During his PhD, Dr. Srivastava was involved in investigating inhalation toxicity of environmental toxicants including asbestos fibers and nanoparticles. In his studies, he has demonstrated the molecular mechanisms underlying these toxic manifestations in the lung.
During his postdoctoral training at UAB Dermatology, he started investigations related to the mechanistic understanding of macrophage function dysregulation by arsenic. Currently his research involves the pathogenesis of cutaneous blistering and painful inflammation caused by chemical warfare agents (CWA). He is also actively involved in cancer studies, particularly related to skin neoplasm (squamous cell carcinoma) and soft tissue sarcoma.
After 7 years as a scientist for UAB, Ritesh joined the Department of Dermatology's faculty in 2025.
Ritesh and his wife Neha Srivastava live in Vestavia with their daughter, Ritisha Srivastava. He enjoys reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends in his spare time!
