UCEM Exercise Medicine Journal Club (GBS 700-VT2) which was previously open only to UAB Graduate Students is now open to anyone interested in Exercise Biology and Medicine.

Description 

The purpose of this journal club is to discuss timely and innovative research advances in exercise medicine. This semester’s journal club will focus on the interplay of exercise training and vascular aging. Studies focusing on pathobiology and genetics of disease, vascular side effects of non-vascular diseases or disorders, and intervention/treatment approaches related to topics such as:

  • New methods in exercise and vascular research

  • Maintaining cognitive function

  • Prevention/treatment of dementias

  • Impact of parental exercise on fetal/child outcomes

  • Vascular health and successful aging

Trainees will interact with scientists and clinicians from several disciplines, and will present and discuss the latest and most impactful research in both human and animal model systems.

Attendance is required for enrolled students. Faculty and trainees will be invited to each journal club presentation. 

Schedule

Meetings will be held weekly on Monday from 11:30 – 12:30.
