What is the Near Peer Mentoring Academy?
The Near Peer Mentoring Academy was developed to train and enhance confidence in mentoring near peers (gap year, graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and lab staff). The sessions focus on mentoring undergraduate scholars primarily, however, the topics and learning outcomes can aid in all forms of near-peer mentoring.
Who can attend:
Any Near Peers across campus are eligible to attend this training session.What qualifies as completing the training?
Participating in 4 of 6 topics covered in the two sessions if participating in summer 2024 KURE and/or PROmoTE Programs.What does each session look like?
Sessions are sectioned into three topics (2 1.25-hour sessions) each topic has a group training portion with small group breakout discussions. Choose the two topics you are most interested in attending in each sessionIs this the same as the KURE-Mentoring Academy?
Feedback from the 2023 training academy was taken to deepen discussion and engagement in these two-day in-person sessions. Those who have participated prior will also gain much through the discussion and training.What if I still have more questions?
