The UAB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences offers Alabama’s only ophthalmology residency program. Embedded in Birmingham’s robust academic and medical community, this program provides residents numerous training opportunities.
The department is housed within UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye, which offers residents a unique and clinically valuable training experience through a busy outpatient surgery center, ophthalmic laser center, and 17 operating suites
Through this unique clinical setting, residents are able to diagnose and treat numerous ophthalmologic conditions.
