Biography
Johan Latorre, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is dual board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and sports medicine. He serves as rotation director for the PGY-4 MSK-2 rotation and course director for musculoskeletal didactics.
Latorre earned his medical degree from the Penn State University College of Medicine. He also holds a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Anthropology & Anatomy, and Psychology from Duke University.
Before joining UAB, Latorre completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan, where he also completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. His clinical interests include adaptive sports medicine, musculoskeletal injuries, concussion management, and helping athletes of all abilities return to peak performance.
In his clinical practice, Latorre evaluates and treats a wide range of conditions related to athletic participation, including musculoskeletal injuries and concussions, with a particular focus on adaptive athletes.
