IR Residents 2023

Interventional Radiology (IR) is a sub-specialty of Diagnostic Radiology that has rapidly evolved over the past 30 years to become an integral part of comprehensive patient care, providing minimally invasive techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of health problems.
IR Team

The Interventional Radiology team at UAB is a dedicated group of healthcare professionals consisting of a growing number of full-time Interventional Radiologists, who are highly skilled and committed to providing the highest quality patient care for our community and our surrounding communities throughout the state and region. We provide diagnostic and interventional services for UAB Hospital, the Children's Hospital of Alabama, and the local Veteran's Affairs Hospital. We also run an outpatient clinic and perform outpatient procedures at the Kirklin Clinic five days a week.

The Interventional Radiology section of the UAB Department of Radiology is dedicated to providing world class education and experience. We currently train 4 Independent IR residents, 1-2 ESIR residents and 2 Integrated IR residents (per PGY-level) per year.

We have a high volume practice and state of the art equipment. Our practice incorporates the entire spectrum of adult and pediatric Interventional Radiology. Our attending physicians are dedicated to clinical care, teaching, and research. We work hard to foster an environment of respect and inquiry where all can flourish.

I am so pleased you are interested in IR training at UAB. Please check out our Twitter feed and explore our website to see what we have to offer.
