Integrated IR

Integrated IR is part of the NRMP Main Match Cycle. Applications for residency should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and are due September 29, 2021. Each year, we fill 9 diagnostic radiology residency positions and 2 integrated interventional radiology positions. Candidates matching with these positions will begin their radiology residency training on July 1, 2023. This will allow time for the required one year of clinical experience (prelim year), at UAB or elsewhere, from July 2022 through June 2023. The initial clinical year must be spent in an ACGME-accredited institution.

Completed ERAS applications will be reviewed by members of the Resident Selection and Review Committee. All interviews are extended through the program's Resident Selection and Review Committee via ERAS. If selected for an interview, our office will contact you to arrange a virtual interview on one of our scheduled interview dates. Both the Diagnostic Radiology Residency and the Integrated Radiology Residency programs hold interviews on the same day.

Make sure your ERAS application contains the following items:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • USMLE Step scores
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
  • Dean's Letter (MRSP)
  • Medical School Transcript

Members of the Integrated IR residency selection committee for 2021 are:

  • A.J. Gunn, M.D.
  • Rachel Oser, MD
  • Theresa Caridi, M.D.
  • Yulia Melenevsky, M.D.
  • Eric Bready, M.D.

The Independent IR residency at UAB is open to applicants who have completed an ACGME accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency. We are accepting applicants for ESIR and Non-ESIR positions. Trainees in an ACGME accredited ESIR program must provide documentation of training from the program director including a letter verifying acceptance, training diagram for R1-R4, and expected number of procedures and procedure mix.

Independent IR is part of the NRMP Specialty Match Cycle. Applications for the Independent IR residency should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We will hold interviews for the 2023 - 2024 academic year in March 2022.
