Biography

Dr. Samantha M. Lloy earned her bachelor of science degree from Cape Breton University before receiving her medical degree from Saint James School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center before pursuing fellowship training in breast surgical oncology at Saint John’s Cancer Institute. There, she received advanced training in the multidisciplinary management of breast cancer, with a particular focus on breast conservation and oncoplastic surgery.

A dedicated clinical researcher, Dr. Lloy has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications spanning both surgical oncology and basic science research, with additional manuscripts currently in preparation. Her research focuses on optimizing breast cancer treatment strategies while minimizing the physical and emotional burden of surgery, including the de-escalation of axillary surgery and advances in oncoplastic breast surgery. In addition to her published work, she has presented her research at regional and national scientific meetings.

Dr. Lloy is an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS), and the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO). She maintains certification in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS), Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
