Milton Edward Essig, D.M.D., has been named professor emeritus in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry.

 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Milton Edward Essig, D.M.D., has been named professor emeritus in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry. The appointment was made by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees at its Sept. 18 meeting.

Essig joined the UAB faculty in 1974 as an instructor and rose through the ranks to professor in 1992. He held a number of leadership roles at the UAB School of Dentistry, including those of assistant and associate dean of the school. He is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association and has had numerous publications and presentations on computer-generated restorative dentistry.

Essig is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists and International Association of Dental Research. He earned his dental degree from the UAB School of Dentistry and completed his residency at Martin Army Hospital in Ft. Benning, Ga.
