Theresa Rodgers named the 2014 Advanced Nurse of the Year by NBNA

Theresa rodgers resizedTheresa Rodgers, DNP, CRNP, a University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing alumna has been named the 2014 National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year.  

Rodgers has been a registered nurse for thirty-seven years and a nurse practitioner twenty of those years. She currently practices at Children’s of Alabama, working with pediatric patients with chronic pulmonary diseases and their families.

Rodgers earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Tuskegee University, master’s of science in nursing and doctor of nursing practice from the UAB School of Nursing .

Rodgers accepted her award at the NBNA Nurse of the Year Awards Ceremony and Presidents Gala at the Philadelphia Marriott.

The NBNA’s mission is to represent and provide
a forum for black nurses to advocate and implement strategies to ensure
access to the highest quality of healthcare for persons of color.
