MSN alum Fain publishes fifth edition nursing textbook

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing alumni James A. Fain, PhD, RN, BC-ADM, FAAN, has recently published Reading, Understanding, and Applying Nursing Research, 5th Edition.

Fain currently serves as professor at the University of Massachusetts Graduate School of Nursing. Previously, he served eight years as dean and professor at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth College of Nursing.

Fain’s book, Reading, Understanding, and Applying Nursing Research, has received an American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award, distinguishing it among the best in nursing publishing.

Fain earned his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the School in 1979.
