Alumna Linda Norman named FNINR ambassador

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing alumna Linda D. Norman, DSN, RN, FAAN, has been named an ambassador of the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR), an independent nonprofit group that advocates for the advancement of nursing science to promote the health and well-being of all Americans.

Norman is among 15 new ambassadors joining the ranks of 15 others currently serving. A specific focus of the group is to educate congressional leaders on the high impact and cost-effective treatments that emanate from nursing science.

Selected from a national pool of applicants, Norman was selected for her ability to advance public, health professions, and policy-maker awareness of the critical research agenda linked to the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR).

Norman is dean of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee, and is also the Valere Potter Menefee Chair in Nursing. She earned her Doctor of Science in Nursing (DSN) from the UAB School of Nursing in 2001.
