Alumna recognized by March of Dimes

Photo: Timiya NolanUniversity of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing three-time Alumna Timiya Nolan, PhD, APRN-CNP, ANP-BC (BSN 2008, MSN 2011, PhD 2016), received this year’s March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Award in Diversity for the state of Ohio.

Nolan was recognized for nursing excellence and her achievements in promoting diversity. She is an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, where her research focuses health disparities and developing interventions that promote self-management in the prevention and control of chronic conditions.

While at UAB, Nolan studied breast cancer survivorship disparities in young and African American populations alongside the late Karen Meneses, PhD, RN, FAAN. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Scientific Workforce Diversity office also recognized Nolan as a Future Research Leader in 2017.
