No-Show Ball raises $70,000

Photo:: No Show BallThe University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Junior Board of Visitor’s annual fundraiser, No-Show Ball, raised a net total of nearly $70,000 this year. This is the 12th year of the event, which delivers delicious meals to the homes of supporters.

During No-Show Ball, supporters can select their favorite dish from a list of dinners for four, and that meal will be delivered to their door along with dessert, sides and a bottle of wine.

The 2019 fundraiser was carried out under the leadership of Chair Kelli Fleming, and funds raised included the sale of 487 total meals, support from 12 sponsors and contributions from generous donors.

This year, the JBOV aimed to raise the funds needed to finish naming an interactive debriefing classroom in the simulation lab of the School’s new building expansion. Because funds raised exceeded that goal, the JBOV will use all additional funds to further support the Junior Board of Visitors Endowed Nursing Scholarship.

“As the School’s Junior Board of Visitors, our first goal is to support the nursing students. We have found that families and supporters enjoy the chance to support nursing education by enjoying a night at home with a delicious meal,” said Fleming. “Through the debriefing classroom, students have the opportunity to discuss the simulations they encounter and learn even more from the simulation experience. We are thankful for all of our supporters who make the expansion of nursing education at the UAB School of Nursing possible.”
