Ten University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing scientists are listed in this year’s Stanford/Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists list, a sign of their career-long impact as scientists in building the scientific knowledge base, informing policy and improving patient outcomes. The rankings take into account total citations and the quality of the peer-reviewed journals publishing their research.

“This global recognition highlights the contributions and significance our scientists have made as they engage in their important and meaningful work,” said Dean and Fay B. Ireland Endowed Chair in Nursing Maria R. Shirey, PhD, MBA, MS, RN, NEA-BC, ANEF, FACHE, FNAP, FAAN. “Our School has been a leader in nursing and health care research for decades, and I’m proud of these faculty members’ accomplishments as leaders in their field.”
