- International Student and Scholar Services opens a new website (ISSS) provides insight and support as you navigate the J-1 visa process for yourself and any dependents. ISSS also plans events for international scholars and their families to build community and enjoy cultural experiences in Birmingham. We recommend you contact them as early as possible; they are a wonderful resource.
