Join a clinical research study that seeks to improve the lives of those suffering from depression. We are looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial. Are you eligible to enroll in the Amplify Study? Must be between 18 and 65 years of age and meet the DSM-5 criteria for a diagnosis of MDD. You are experiencing a moderate or severe major depressive episode of up to 12 months. You have been using a SSRI or SNRI antidepressant for at least 6 weeks and are having an inadequate response. You do not have a history of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, or eating disorder, according to DSM-5 criteria. Millions of Americans struggle with bipolar depression. If you’ve tried seeking treatment and are still suffering, consider a research study. Local study doctors are studying how your brain's unique biology impacts treatment response in bipolar depression. Participate in the PRISM-BP research study at UAB, investigating whether sharing personalized genetic risk scores can help people better control blood pressure. In this study, participants will attend 7 visits over 12 months. The study involves health checks, blood tests, urine samples, activity tracking, and wearing a 24-hour blood pressure monitor. Some participants will also receive their genetic risk score with counseling. Eligible participants must be 18–55 years old, have high blood pressure, and have no history of serious heart or kidney problems. Women cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding. You may be eligible to participate in a research study looking at the effects of sacubitril/valsartan on how your body handles sugar. This medication is related to blood pressure and is safe to take with or without hypertension. Eligible participants must be healthy men and women, African American, and have no history of diabetes, heart disease or kidney problems. The study involves performing some exercise, taking sacubitril/valsartan, and collecting blood samples. Participants will be compensated $675 for completing all the visits. Participate in the PRECISION-BP research study investigating the best time to take blood pressure medication, morning or evening. In this study, participants will receive blood pressure medications for 28 days. Eligible participants must be obese (BMI: 30-45 kg/m2) men and women, have high blood pressure, and have no history of heart or kidney problems. The study involves wearing a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours, 24-hour inpatient visits at UAB Hospital, taking medications, and collecting blood and urine samples. Meals will be provided at no cost. Participants will be compensated $575 for completing the study visits. ZION is a clinical research study for adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This study will test a study drug injection to learn about its safety, effectiveness, and tolerability (side effects) in participants with COPD. Participation in the ZION study lasts about 32 weeks. Throughout the entire study, participants will continue to take their daily maintenance COPD medications. Who can join the ZION study? Do you experience leaks when you laugh, cough, or exercise? You’re not alone — it’s called Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), and there are solutions! RESTRAIN-SUI is a clinical research study from Eli Lilly and Company. It is testing how well and safely the investigational medicine can help female participants reduce their weekly frequency of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) compared to placebo. Yes, you may be able to join the study if you: Are aged 18 years and over Are a woman (assigned female at birth) Have a BMI* of 27 or higher Have not lost or gained more than 5kg of your body weight in the last 3 months Have daily episodes of accidental leakage of urine onto your clothing, underwear, or pad during an activity such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, running, exercising, or lifting. The UAB Department of Nutrition Sciences is conducting a nutrition and brain health study looking at whether an acute dose of a ketone supplement can improve cognitive function in individuals 60 and older. You may qualify if you are between the ages of 60-75 years, are healthy or have prediabetes, have NOT been diagnosed with Diabetes, are willing to consume a ketone supplement drink, and are willing to travel to UAB for 2 testing visits that include a PET-fMRI brain scan. The Alabama Vaccine Research Clinic (AVRC) at UAB is seeking healthy adults ages 18 to 65 to take part in a national HIV prevention study. This Phase 2 clinical trial is testing the safety and potential benefits of three investigational monoclonal antibodies—lab-made proteins that may help the body block HIV. These antibodies are given by IV infusion, not as a shot or vaccine, and participants are never exposed to HIV. Those who qualify will receive two infusions over six months, followed by routine clinic visits for up to one year. Participants will receive compensation for their time and effort. Study participants are needed to help understand kidney stone formation. Healthy subjects and patients with Calcium Oxalate kidney stones between the ages of 18 -60 years old are needed to help identify a link between diet and immune cells during kidney stone formation. If you are between the ages of 18 -75 yrs and have a history of calcium oxalate kidney stones, you may be eligible to participate in a study exploring how dietary oxalate is absorbed in the gut and how this is different in patients with calcium oxalate kidney stones, which might increase their risk of forming calcium oxalate kidney stones. This study involves consuming fixed prepared meals over 4 days twice, a 9-hour long visit to the Clinical Research Unit (CRU), and providing urine, blood, breath and stool samples. Help us find out by joining our study. The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Division of General Internal Medicine and Population Science is conducting an exciting research study to see if changing the time you eat can help with weight loss after having a baby. If you participate, you will either keep your normal eating schedule or change to a shortened daily eating window. If you are randomly chosen to do shortened daily eating window, you will fast for 15 hours per day and eat dinner by 6 pm about 6 days per week (1 break day per week). You may qualify if: You had a baby in the last 3 months Your BMI is 25 or more- find your BMI at this link  You are not currently taking any medications for chronic conditions You don’t smoke, vape, or use tobacco products currently or within the last 6 months The study involves coming to UAB for 2 study visits spaced about 12 weeks apart. We are unlocking new gateways to treating depression and we are looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial. Who's eligible for the study? IF you have been diagnosed with depression. you are between the ages of 18-64 you are currently experiencing a major depressive episode that has lasted at least 3 weeks but not longer than 18 months. you are otherwise healthy and have not been diagnosed with other medically important conditions or psychiatric conditions such as bipolar disorder (BP), antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), borderline personality disorder (BPD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or major diseases, have not had electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), deep brain stimulation or repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) within 5 years or have failed to respond to ECT at any time, This STUDY Might Be For You!
