Help us find out by joining our study. The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Division of General Internal Medicine and Population Science is conducting an exciting research study to see if changing the time you eat can help with weight loss after having a baby. If you participate, you will either keep your normal eating schedule or change to a shortened daily eating window. If you are randomly chosen to do shortened daily eating window, you will fast for 15 hours per day and eat dinner by 6 pm about 6 days per week (1 break day per week). You may qualify if: You had a baby in the last 3 months Your BMI is 25 or more- find your BMI at this link You are not currently taking any medications for chronic conditions You don’t smoke, vape, or use tobacco products currently or within the last 6 months The study involves coming to UAB for 2 study visits spaced about 12 weeks apart. You will be asked to complete surveys, blood draws, body fat scans, and other simple tests. Compensation of up to $130 is offered for the completion of this study. We are unlocking new gateways to treating depression and we are looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial. Who's eligible for the study? IF you have been diagnosed with depression. you are between the ages of 18-64 you are currently experiencing a major depressive episode that has lasted at least 3 weeks but not longer than 18 months. you are otherwise healthy and have not been diagnosed with other medically important conditions or psychiatric conditions such as bipolar disorder (BP), antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), borderline personality disorder (BPD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or major diseases, have not had electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), deep brain stimulation or repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) within 5 years or have failed to respond to ECT at any time, This STUDY Might Be For You! Participate in the PRECISION-BP research study investigating the best time to take blood pressure medication, morning or evening. This study participants will receive blood pressure medications for 28 days. Eligible participants must be obese (BMI: 30-45 kg/m2) men and women, have high blood pressure, and have no history of heart or kidney problems. The study involves wearing a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours, 24-hour inpatient visits at UAB Hospital, taking medications, and collecting blood and urine samples. Meals will be provided at no cost. Participants will be compensated $575 for completing the study visits. Eligible participants must be healthy adults (BMI less than 45 kg/m2) and have no history of diabetes, heart problems, or kidney problems. The study involves consuming prepared meals, performing exercise on a treadmill, undergoing a glucose test, and collecting blood, urine samples, and collection of genetic information. Interested in being part of vision rehabilitation research for healthy older adults aged 50-59 to lay the foundation of using a new device? Here is an overview of what our study will involve! The purpose of this study? Calculate baseline data for Bioness Integrated Therapy System (BITS) and identify its clinical implications in treating visual impairments. Compare the baseline data of Bioness Integrated Therapy System (BITS) to Dynavision for visual scanning. Who are we looking for? Healthy adults aged 50-59 without physical, visual, or cognitive impairment and with no history of seizures or balance problems. Adults who are able to walk without assistive devices and are English speakers. What would you have to do in 60 minutes? Fill out a short survey for demographic data. Quick functional screening of upper extremities. Perform four tests on BITS. Perform four tests on Dynavision. Participants will receive a $25 gift card. Our study is looking for physically active and inactive postmenopausal women of Black or White race. We are testing the impact of race, exercise habits, and living conditions on heart disease risk in postmenopausal women. Participation only involves two, one-hour long visits to the UAB Center for Exercise Medicine and offers compensation up to $200. 426c.Mod.Core-C4b adjuvanted with 3M-052-AF + Alum immunization in combination with an antiretroviral analytical treatment interruption (ATI) in people living with HIV for elicitation of VRC01-lineage antibodies Study Information: Are you 18-60 years of age living with HIV, and want to be a part of a vaccine study? Is your viral load suppressed/undetectable? Are you able to receive a vaccine? Are you generally healthy? Are you willing to temporarily stop taking antiretrovirals? You may qualify for a study looking at testing an experimental HIV vaccine with an experimental adjuvant to see how the immune responses change among participants who do an antiretroviral analytical treatment interruption (ATI) compared to those who do not. Researchers from the UAB School of Optometry are currently recruiting those with dry eyes to participate in a research study looking at how a part of your eye's immune system called the complement system is involved in dry eye disease. If eligible, you will be asked to have your eyes evaluated three times, each visit being 3 to 17 days apart. Visit will last between 30 to 90 minutes. You will receive $150 if you are eligible for the study and complete all study procedures. University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking cigarette smokers who would like to quit smoking for participation in a scientific research study. The research study involves free counseling and treatment provided in a comfortable, supportive setting. The study may involve ingestion of psilocybin, a psychoactive substance found in psychedelic mushrooms that have been used as a sacrament in various cultures. Some research studies have suggested that psychedelics, when administered under interpersonally supportive and well-prepared conditions, may be effective in helping people overcome addictions. Questionnaires, interviews, and biological measures of smoking will be used to assess the treatment's effects on mood and smoking. Participants will be compensated $50 per session. There is an ongoing psychedelic clinical research study evaluating the safety and efficacy of an intranasal study drug for patients with treatment resistant depression. To qualify patients need to be 18-75 years of age, failed to respond to an adequate dose & duration of at least 2 medicines for depression. If currently taking antidepressants, willing and able to discontinue. If eligible, study participants will be expected to abstain from illicit drugs for the duration of the trial & attend all study visits & follow instructions from the study doctor. Treatment for Urge Urinary Leakage: BEST Study This study will compare the effectiveness of two different treatments for urge urinary incontinence (UUI). If you’re being treated for MDD and your current antidepressant medication(s) is not working, the SAVITRI Study might interest you. The SAVITRI Study is researching a potential MDD therapy to improve symptoms of depression, and you may be able to participate. This research study is now enrolling adults diagnosed with MDD. Those who qualify will receive the investigational medication (or placebo), study-specific medical exams, and study-specific laboratory tests at no cost.
