UAB will bring a new Web-based hiring and internal transfer system online Monday, Dec.18.

Known as BrassRing, the new system will enable job candidates — both internal and external — to complete online applications for positions throughout the university’s academic and health-care operations, both through www.uab.edu and www.uabhealth.org .

“Part of what this change means is that as of Dec. 18, all applicants who apply or have applied for jobs during the June 15-Dec. 15 time period this year – whether with the university’s academic or health-care operations – will be required to resubmit their information using the new system,” said Mike Mathews, manager of employment. “This includes all applicants for internal transfer.

“We think people will find this new process quicker and much easier than sending in their paperwork via fax, mail or e-mail, and we look forward to providing it as a service to all job candidates,” Mathews said.

Complete instructions for the online application process will be posted on UAB’s employment Web sites once the new system is in place Dec. 18.

Once they are posted, internal transfer candidates should pay special attention to the directions on how to apply for a transfer within UAB, as the online forms to use for that process will be different from those to be used by external candidates.
